Hospice and Palliative Care are different. Individuals receiving palliative care are still pursuing curative treatments, while the goal of hospice is to provide the maximum amount of comfort along the end-of-life journey when curative treatment is no longer beneficial. Hospice provides more services than palliative care but also has more eligibility requirements.
Palliative care could be the right choice if you are still pursuing curative treatment and would like help with pain and symptom management, as well as support finding the right community resources to help you on your journey. Palliative care is supportive in nature; therefore, it can also be referred to as supportive care and viewed as another layer of support for your well-being.
Serenity Hospice and Home provides loving and compassionate palliative care services. In addition to in-person visits, there is regular communication by telephone with a Registered Nurse (RN). We also help you to navigate your treatment options while referring you to community resources.
In addition to supporting you and your family, we communicate with and work in conjunction with all your current medical providers. Palliative care provides relief from suffering and helps to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families.
