About Serenity Hospice

Serenity Hospice and Home is a not-for-profit, “free standing” organization.

Founded in 1984, Serenity stands on the belief that everyone deserves to experience dignity, respect and comfort at the end-of-life. This belief has guided us through the years of service, as we have had the privilege to support countless patients and their families through one of life’s most challenging journeys.

Serenity is pleased to have an active and robust Board of Directors that has a fiduciary responsibility to the hospice organization and to the community. Board members represent all areas of our service area.

We are licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to promote comprehensive Hospice Care and to operate a Hospice Residence. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. Hospice care is available to all who are in need: children, adults, and the elderly. In July 2016, Serenity Hospice & Home was accredited by The Joint Commission and in 2022 we received a 5-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Serenity Hospice and Home does not discriminate in the delivery of services on the basis of sex, age, marital status, handicap, sexual preference, race, national origin, or religion.

We serve the counties of Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside as well as the towns of Walnut and Ohio in Bureau County.
