Garden Luncheon 2024: A Beautiful Gathering

A full crowd of supporters gathered on May 11, 2024, at Stronghold Center to enjoy a lively event with auctions and a flavorful meal. The theme, “Pansies and Polka Dots,” sprang alive throughout the event space, from participants showing off their polka dots to the numerous flowers highlighting the event. The sun was shining, welcoming everyone to Serenity Hospice & Home’s annual fundraiser to support the mission of Serenity’s hospice and palliative care.

Two rooms with decorated tables offered participants a welcome assortment of items to bid on silently. Jewelry, purses, orchestra tickets, artwork, toys, overnight accommodations, and many more wonderful items were bid on during the early part of the event. Drinks and appetizers were readily available as participants strolled the rooms and gathering spaces, enjoying conversation and even taking a chance on the ever-popular mystery boxes that, for a donation, the lucky winner discovers jewelry or gift cards await them!

After lunch, participants heard from Lynn Knodle (CEO) and Karen Sikorski (Association Board Chair), and the bidding began with our energetic and entertaining Joyce Rueff, who presided as our amazing auctioneer. The live auction brought fun and excitement to the room as bidders raised their paddles high to be given the chance to win: Vera Bradley “Aloha” set, floral artwork painting by Beverly Garcia, a stunning porch pot from Hagemann Horticulture, a masterful queen-size quilt, attractive flower-filled centerpieces, and the main event featuring a Kate Spade purse. The purse was passed from table to table, offering everyone a chance to make a worthy donation by placing currency into the designer purse. The winning bidder receives the purse and all the cash inside it! It is always fun to see the back and forth of bidding and waiting to see who wins which items.

Serenity is profoundly grateful to all the donors who contributed items for the auction. The Stronghold Center, our gracious host, played a crucial role in planning this special event. We are deeply thankful for the extensive list of volunteers and staff who dedicated their time and energy to every aspect of the event, from setup to parking, food service, and clean up. We truly appreciate everyone who attended and helped Serenity Hospice & Home to continue its mission of providing comfort, care, and dignity to those in need of hospice or palliative care. Your support has made a significant impact on our work.

Information on attendance and the amount raised, will be announced on this page at a later date once final numbers are received.
