To everyone who joined us for Saturday’s Memorial Butterfly Release, thank you for your grace, understanding, and support.
While the event itself was filled with love, remembrance, and meaningful moments, it also came with an unexpected challenge. Due to tornadoes and severe storms in Kentucky, the butterflies were delayed in transit and did not arrive in time for the ceremony.
.
We are incredibly grateful to our staff and volunteers, who went above and beyond to ensure the morning remained a beautiful tribute to the loved ones we gathered to honor. We also appreciate everyone who received our updates before and after the event and showed such kindness and patience throughout this situation.
.
Although the butterfly release could not happen as planned, we hope the service, shared memories, and time spent together still brought comfort and healing. Thank you for allowing Serenity Hospice and Home to be part of your journey of remembrance.
UPDATED 6-30-2026
Our team would like to express our gratitude once again for your support and understanding regarding the butterflies.
.
There is some good news to share. Late morning the next day (6/29/26), the shipment of butterflies arrived, and we were relieved to see that many were alive.
.
It quickly became apparent that they needed to be released immediately to give them the best opportunity for survival. The Serenity team worked swiftly to gently release the butterflies into our gardens. It was a beautiful and unexpected moment, and we were grateful to provide them with the best possible environment to continue on their journey.
.
Just as grief often asks us to wait through seasons of uncertainty, these butterflies remind us that beauty and hope can still emerge after unexpected challenges. Their release yesterday is a gentle symbol that love endures, memories take flight, and even after difficult moments, healing continues.
