Job Description for Director of Nursing:
Serenity Hospice is looking for an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to manage the clinical operations of the organization. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to lead by example, engages and listens to team members, ensures patients and families receive the highest level of care, all while managing policies and organizational budgetary needs. The DON should have once been a hard-working and compassionate RN who steadily developed their managerial and administrative skills. Being efficient, dedicated, a good listener and a problem-solver is what will open our door for you. The goal is to foster an excellent environment that will support everyone in working to provide the best care to our patients.
• Supervise, direct, oversee, counsel and evaluate all clinical personnel • Guide staffing procedures and assists the Director of HR in hiring and retaining staff • Set objectives and long-term goals for the clinical department • Organize and coordinate admission, nursing and patient care procedures • Develop, implement, review and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high quality standards • Control budgets and monitor expenditures • Resolve issues and deficiencies when needed • Manage record-keeping procedures • Ensures Joint Commission Clinical Standards are met and reviewed annually • Work with Leadership to assess and strategically plan organization’s needs • Unify the clinical departments to ensure organizational needs are met as well as well as providing the highest level of care to our patients and families
Proven supervisory/managerial experience • In-depth knowledge of Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation • Familiarity with the principles related to death and dying • Great knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in healthcare • Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing administration • Excellent ability to lead and develop personnel • Great communication and people skills • Outstanding organizational and stress management skills • Aptitude in problem-solving • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse in Illinois; Bachelor of Nursing in Illinois preferred; Certified Hospice Palliative Nurse preferred
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
